Local 25 Journeyperson Night School

Important Information
1. Local No. 25 night classes are
open to all Journeypersons on a first come basis. Class sizes are
limited, anyone interested in a particular class should mail in their
check/money order along with the "green" course selection sheet
immediately.
2. All night classes and seminars start at 5:00 PM and
end at 8:30 PM, there is a 15 minute break from 6:45 PM to 7:00 PM.
3. The tuition for all night classes is $50.00, tuition
for seminars is $20.00. All tuitions must be paid by check/money order
made payable to the SMWIA Local No. 25 Ed Fund and mailed to the JATC by
August 31, 2007.
4. Several classes/seminars will require that you
purchase an ITI calculator from the JATC Local 25. Please arrive to your
first class with a check/money order prepared to purchase a calculator.
5. Please use the calendar to determine your first day
of class and class nights.
Course Descriptions
DRAFTING – Manual Drafting Course
220 hour course, 2 nights per week held on Tuesday and Thursday. This is
a pencil drafting class, which covers blueprint reading, field measuring
and producing sheet metal shop drawings from plans and specifications.
TAB – Testing, Adjusting & Balancing Course
120 hour course 1 night per week held on Wednesday. This class covers
the basics of Testing, Adjusting and Balancing of heating, ventilating
and air conditioning systems for air. Also covers, hand tools,
instrumentation, and data collecting.
SERVICE 1 – Level 1 HVAC Service Course
100 hours course, 2 nights per week, held on Tuesday and Thursday. This
Course is a continuation of our Service 1 course. You must have
completed se Service 1 course or have documented training to enroll in
this course.
JOURN WELD – Journey Person Welding Course
100 hour course, 2 nights per week held on Monday and Wednesday. Our
welding school is an AWS certified testing facility. We cover STICK, MIG
& TIG welding, Oxy/Acetylene & Plasma Cutting. This course will prepare
you to a Certified Welder.
A-CAD - AutoCAD Drafting Course
100 hour course, 2 nights per week held on Wednesday and Thursday, you
must have completed the manual drafting course or have drafting
experience. This course will cover the latest version of the AutoCAD
Drafting Software.
S & D – Siding and Decking
This course covers the installation, erection, maintenance and
fabrication of Sheet Metal Siding and Decking. Also covers blueprint
reading and field sketching. The course is taught using a full size
mock-up that will be built in the parking.
Class starts Fall 2007.
RIGGING & HOISTING – Equipment Handling
This class is hands on with rigging/hoisting equipment, slings,
shackles. Safety and risk management when using the equipment.
Calculating size, weight and center of gravity. Review sling loads by
angle of degree of pick and crane signals.
Class starts Fall 2007.
Seminar Descriptions
COMET – Construction Organizing Membership Education Training
Seminar
7 hour seminar covered over two (2) nights. This seminar is done using a
PowerPoint Presentation. It also includes labor statistics, employment
statistics and labor history. Every member should take this seminar.
OSHA 30 JP - Government Standards Construction Safety Seminar
30 hour seminar covered over 8 nights. This seminar will teach you about
the Occupational Safety/Health Act, the standards for general industry
construction and employee/employer responsibilities.
